Article published in International Ophthalmology

This month in the peer-reviewed journal "International Ophthalmology" we published a work entitled " The etiology of infectious corneal ulceration in Sierra Leone".  In this paper, we bring to light the fact that many of the corneal infectious in this developing country are caused by Gram negative bacteria and Fungi.  This is consistent with older, published work we performed implicating the same organisms as colonizers of the ocular surface.  Having and disseminating this information to local caregivers when treating patients in developing countries can assist in establishing treatment protocols and ultimately decrease visual loss from these devastating  infections.
