Article published in International Ophthalmology

posted: December 14, 2010 at 6:09pm by Pelletier
This month in the peer-reviewed journal "International Ophthalmology" we published a work entitled " The etiology of infectious corneal ulceration in Sierra Leone".  In this paper, we bring to light the fact that many of the corneal infectious in this developing country are caused by Gram negative bacteria and Fungi.  This is consistent with older, published work we performed implicating the same organisms as colonizers of the ocular surface.  Having and disseminating this information to local caregivers when treating patients in developing countries can assist in establishing treatment protocols and ultimately decrease visual loss from these devastating  infections.

Ocean Ophthalmology announces partnership with Dr. Rolando Toyos, MD

posted: September 28, 2010 at 7:46pm by Pelletier
We at Ocean Ophthalmology are looking forward to teaming up with Dr Rolando Toyos MD in delivering cutting-edge, state-of-the-art treatments to combat blepharitis and advanced ocular surface disease.  Dr Toyos, a nationally renowned physician and founder of the Toyos Clinic, is at the forefront of blepharitis therapy with his expertise in the use of intense pulsed light therapy to the eyelid.  Starting this October, patients interested in having this procedure performed by Dr Toyos in South Florida may do so exclusively at Ocean Ophthalmology.  We believe this treatment will be of great benefit to patients not only in south Florida, but in surrounding areas as well.  Intense light therapy works synergistically and harmoniously with many of the medical treatments already offered by our physicians.
